ABOUT THE AUTHOR
This published poet/author has always had an affinity with the sea. He was born and raised in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He served  his country for twenty-seven years in the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1973. He met his young bride while stationed in Newfoundland and they became the parents of six daughters and two sons.

It was after retirement from the Navy that the solitude and enjoyment of being alone in his small boat on the southern branch of the Elizabeth River in Virginia served as his inspiration to write poetry. "Just the presence of wonders found there brought poetry to me, and even then, at first, it was not in words, but more in thought and a soothing of the soul."

For his Cowboy poetry he has been selected twice as a runner up for Poet Laureate in Omar's Cowboy Poetry website. He also hosts a folder (Poetry II, Cowboys) in AOL's Writer's Club. He says: "Life is good and should be enjoyed in tiny ways, like little meaningless verses, instant flights of birds, lovely visions of flowers on a hillside, or as the say in Newfoundland, a 'Rattling brook.'"
